Dark Room Retreats
Immerse Yourself in Darkness
to Reveal Your Inner Light
“Darkness within darkness. The Gateway to all understanding.” –Lao Tzu
Dark Room Retreats are an ancient practice from the Ayurvedic and Tantric traditions. In such retreats, your teacher is darkness itself. You enter a room specially designed to admit no light and spend a number of days in darkness in order to reveal your inner light. It is an experience like no other and brings about a profound shift of consciousness.

Pricing and Registration
Dark Room Retreats of 2-30 nights are offered near Hridaya Yoga France in the village of Saint-Just-d’Avray.
The two dark rooms (each about 25 square meters) are ideal for solitary retreats and are specifically designed for this purpose. They feature good ventilation systems, comfortable queen-size beds, bathrooms (shower, sink, and toilet), a “lounging” area with a table and armchair, and floor space to practice yoga and meditation. There is a “food box” through which meals can be served and notes may be sent to your hosts. Linens and towels are provided.
Please note that Dark Room Retreats are meant to unfold in noble silence (mauna) to encourage the process of interiorization.
Déborah and Jürgen are teachers at Hridaya Yoga France. As your hosts, they will care for you during your retreat, providing you with meals if requested, answering any questions you might have, and guiding you if the need arises. They will offer you an orientation session before the start of the retreat and a post-retreat debriefing.
Before a booking can be confirmed, please note that the process will include filling out this questionnaire and potentially conducting a preliminary interview. You can begin your booking either by emailing Déborah and Jürgen at email@example.com or directly by filling out the questionnaire.
